Chief Minister of Province No. 4 Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that ensuring people’s access to health and education was the state’s responsibility.
Inaugurating the subspecialist clinic on the occasion of the silver jubilee celebration of the Himalaya Eye Hospital, Pokhara, the Chief Minister said that the province government of Province No. 4 was preparing for optimum utilization of natural means and resources for the prosperity of his province.
Likewise, President of Nepal Netra Jyoti Assocaition Prof Dr Tirtha Prasad Mishra said that eight eye hospitals and 80 eye treatment centres established in the country provided eye care services to 90 per cent of the total patients.
Also speaking at the programme, Mayor of Pokhara Lekhnath Municipality Man Bahadur GC said that tourism development of Pokhara would be promoted if the hospital can attract foreigners and patients from other provinces for their treatment for quality health care service.
Medical Superintendent of Himalaya Eye Hospital Dr Indra Maharjan said that eye check up of 2.6 million people of Gandaki, Dhaulagiri and Karnali were conducted while 200,000 patients had their surgeries of eyes including 100,000 of cataract.
