Nepal has confirmed 331 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours.
The Ministry of Health and Population stated that with the addition of the cases, Nepal’s tally has reached 8,605 as of Saturday afternoon.
Among the newly-infected, 282 are males and 49 females, said Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam speaking at a regular press briefing this afternoon.
According to Dr. Gautam, one man from Jhapa and two women from Sunsari were tested positive at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, 8 men from Morang in Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Biratnagar and tests conducted at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Janakpur, confirmed coronavirus infection in two women and 22 men from Mahottari and one woman and two men from Sarlahi.
Similarly, a test conducted at Narayani Hospital, Birgunj, confirmed the infection in three men of Bara.
One woman from Bara, one woman and 13 men from Baglung, 18 men from Baitadi, two women and 16 men from Gulmi, five women and seven men from Dadeldhura, nine women and 52 men from Doti, one man from Kailali and one man from Kathmandu were tested positive at the National Public Health Laboratory, Teku.
Similarly, three women and 14 men from Nawalparasi East, one man from Nawalparasi West, one man from Palpa, one woman and two men from Ramechhap, two men from Rautahat, one man from Rupandehi and six men from Sarlahi have also been infected.
Coronavirus infection has been confirmed in one woman and seven men from Dhading, one woman and 15 men from Palpa and seven women from Bhaktapur in tests at Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Diseases Hospital, Teku.
Similarly, four men from Nawalparasi East and one man from Syangja have been found infected in tests at the laboratory of Bharatpur Hospital.
A woman and four men from Rautahat were tested positive at the Insect Disease Research and Training Center, Hetauda, two men from Kailali at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, three women and three men from Baglung at the Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences and 11 men from Nawalparasi East and 23 men in Tanahun in tests at Regional Tuberculosis Center Pokhara.
Similarly, four women and 12 men from Palpa, two women and 12 men from Banke and seven men from Bardiya have been diagnosed with the infection in a laboratory conducted at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Rupandehi.
A test conducted at Rapti Institute of Health Sciences Dang has confirmed coronavirus infection in one man from Rukum West, two women and two men from Dang and eight men from Pyuthan.
Meanwhile, 176 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from different hospitals in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus. With this 1,578 have been discharged across the country so far.
In the last 24 hours, 7,416 samples have been tested through PCR, said Spokesperson Dr. Gautam.
According to him, 169, 1655 samples were tested through the PCR and 252,300 through the RDT so far.
At present, 7,005 people are in isolation and 102,245 are in quarantines across the country.
