Jan 4, 2018-President Bidya Devi Bhandari has suggested Election Commission (EC) officials to timely present the results of recently concluded elections to concerned authorities as per the constitutional and prevalent legal provisions and pave the way for the formation of a new government.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Ayodhee Prasad Yadav and election Commissioners held a meeting with President Bhandari at Sheetal Niwas on Thursday afternoon during which the latter congratulated the election body for successfully conducting federal and provincial elections in a fair, independent and trustworthy manner.

On the occasion, CEC Yadav told the President that the task of allocating Proportional Representation (PR) seats to the parties in provincial assemblies have already been completed and the parties have been given time till today to correct their closed list by making it inclusive as required by the law.
Yadav said that EC cannot notify the parties about the seats obtained by them in the House of Representatives under PR system due to legal and constitutional restrictions.
He also told the President that the EC has already started preparations for the National Assembly election albeit the government is yet to officially decide the date for the election.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and CEC Yadav had agreed to hold the Upper House election on February 8 but it is learnt the official decision will be taken by the Cabinet.
