A micro hydropower project has completed at Raghuganga rural municipality-8, Kuinekhani of Myagdi.
Locals of geographically backward and remote Kuinekhani took the initiative to construct the 20-KW Majuwa Kuinekhani Micro Hydropower Project to illuminate their village.
The project, constructed at the cost of Rs 10.9 million, has so far benefitted 119 households of previous Kuinemangale VDC, wards 1, 2 and 7, shared micro hydropower project chairperson Cha Bahadur Chhantyal.
Before the electrification, the locals of Kuinekhani had to rely on solar and lamp for light. With the use of electricity, a rice mill has also come into operation in their locality, shared ward member Kha Bahadur Chhantyal.
The Regional Support Unit Dhaulagiri Community Resource Development Centre (DCRDC), Baglung of the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre had provided grant assistance of Rs 3.9 million and the then Kuinemanglae VDC aided Rs 1 million for the project construction.
Likewise, each household user had donated 130 days in kind with cash Rs 2,500. The users had made investment worth Rs 6 million for this, shared Chairperson Chhantyal.
