The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority on Monday filed a corruption case at the Special Court against suspended Director General of Inland Revenue Department, Chudamani Sharma.
Sharma was suspended after the anti-corruption constitutional body filed a case against him, accusing him of embezzling the state funds while he was an official at then Tax Settlement Commission.
The case is still sub-judice at the Court.
The Commission says the fresh case has been registered after a four-month investigation. It has been said that Sharma’s statements about the previous case led to the registration of the case.
In the case, the Commission has claimed Sharma has amassed property worth Rs 43 million illegally.
Just a few days ago, a newspaper had reported that Sharma is absconding after learning about preparations to file the case.
