Nepal Police Club has entered into the semi-finals of the 16th edition of Aaha Rara Gold Cup Football tournament underway in Pokhara.
The NPC made it to the last four by defeating Manang Marshyangdi Club (MMC) by 3-1 in the quarterfinal match held at the local Pokhara stadium Tuesday.
The NPC scored all three goals in the second half with the first half ending in a goalless draw. Nir Kumar Rai scored a goal in the 53rd minute and Dinesh Rajbangsi added another in the 56th minute of the match.
Suman Lama scored for the winning team its third goal to take a 3-0 lead against its opponent MMC in the 71st minute.
However, Bishal Rai scored a consolation goal for MMC in the 80th minute.
Suman Lama of NPC was declared ‘man of the match in the tournament.
Nepal Police Club had entered the quarter-final by defeating Jhapa-11 by 1-0 goal while MMC directly qualified to the quarter-finals.
The winner of the Aaha Rara Gold Cup will win Rs 700,000 in cash prize while the first runner-up will walk home with Rs 351, 000.
Under the tournament, Three Star Club and Balindhara Club of Bangladesh face each other in the first semi-final being held tomorrow.
