Lesbian Visibility Day 2020 celebrated virtually

Lesbian Visibility Day which started to be  celebrated from 26 April, 2008 is the annual day to celebrate, recognize, and bring visibility to lesbians. Lesbians who have been always playing an important role in the fight for LGBTIQ+ equality are also coming front to enhance their rights as women rights.

As lesbians are women and they also exist in the community, it is crucial to stand and fight for their identity. In this regard, Mitini Nepal, a non government organization established in 2005 by arousing voice for rights of Lesbians has also celebrated the ‘Lesbian Visibility Day’ thru virtual meeting on Sunday.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic has certainly put a damper on Lesbian Visibility Day, Laxmi Ghalan, founder president of Mitini Nepal thanked to all homosexuals for their effort to confront difficult situations throughout the history and for sharing their stories. Ghalan also urged everyone to be proud for their sexuality and raise voice being the voice of voiceless in the community.
