Nepal has confirmed 25 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.
With this, the number of coronavirus-infected people in the country has reached 427 out of which 45 have recovered and discharged, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health Dr. Bikash Devkota said today.
Earlier this afternoon, 27 new coronavirus cases were reported in Nepal taking the tally to 402.
Spokesperson Dr. Devkota informed 18 of them are male and 7 are female.
According to him, 6 people from Banke, 5 from Dhankuta, 13 from Kapilvastu, and 1 from Nawalparasi West have tested positive for coronavirus.
Similarly, 2280 samples were tested through the PCR method in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 32604.
Meanwhile, 447 people are in isolation. Out of them, two persons have died so far.
Likewise, the Ministry has decided to send a team of 10 health workers including doctors each in Province 2 and Province 5.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has made public the reports of coronavirus tests conducted at various places in Kathmandu Valley.
According to Spokesperson Dr. Devkota, out of 2,236 people tested by the RDT method, 81 have tested positive.
He said that out of 700 samples tested using the RDT method in Kalimati area, three have tested positive.
Similarly, Dr. Devkota informed that all the reports of 334 people tested by the PCR method in the same area were negative.
Likewise, out of 664 sanitation workers of Kathmandu Valley tested through the RDT method, 31 tested positive while reports of 267 people tested using the PCR method came negative.
In Gongabu area, 420 people were tested in RDT and 15 of them tested positive. Similarly, 172 samples have been collected for PCR testing but the report is yet to come, said spokesperson Dr. Devkota.
Similarly, in Bhrikutimandap area, 452 people were tested through the RDT method and 32 of them reported positive.
According to Dr. Devkota, reports of 246 PCR samples are yet to come.
Spokesperson Dr. Devkota said that there was no information about the condition of 81 people who tested positive through RDT.
Dr. Devkota said, “Those who tested positive through RDT are also tested by the PCR method. There is no information that they are isolated when they test positive through RDT. I don’t know if contract tracing was performed.”
The Ministry of Health made public the results of the RDT test in the Kathmandu Valley in a live update on Tuesday after criticism over the non-disclosure of RDT reports.
Spokesperson Dr. Devkota did not give any information about the condition of those who tested positive through RDT.
