Nepal’s COVID-19 count reaches 3,235 with 323 new cases

Nepal has confirmed 323 fresh cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the addition of the cases, total cases in Nepal have reached 3,235.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Spokesperson Dr. Bikash Devkota said that among the newly-infected are 286 males and 37 females.

According to the ministry, tests conducted at the provincial laboratory in Biratnagar have confirmed coronavirus in six people, including two from Sunwarsi and Budhi Ganga in Morang and four from Bhokraha in Sunsari.

A test at Koshi Hospital has confirmed one case from Bodebersain in Saptari.

A total of three cases from Binai Triveni in Nawalparasi were confirmed in the test in Chitwan.

A test conducted at Bheri Hospital found 40 people infected. Of them, 12 have been confirmed in Nepalgunj, Khajura and Baijnath of Banke and 28 in Gulariya, Rajapur, Madhuwan, Bansgadhi, Badaiyatal and Bansgadhi of Bardiya.

Similarly, tests conducted in Pokhara have confirmed infection in 14 people. Among them are three from Pokhara, 10 from Waling and Harinas of Syangja and one from Baglung.

Eight people have been infected in the test conducted at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan. Among them are one is from Dharan and seven from Saptari’s Balvihul.

A total of 13 people tests positive test at the laboratory of Seti Hospital. Among them are six from Khaptadchanna of Bajhang, one from Mahakali of Kanchanpur and one currently living Kanchanpur and permanent resident of Kathmandu, one from Mangalsen of Achham, one from Dadeldhura’s Navdurga and two from Dhangadhi and Godavari of Kailali.

A similar test in Jumla showed coronavirus infection in 44 people. Of them, 43 are from Dailekh’s Mahavu and one is from Dolpa’s Jagadulla.

A test conducted in Surkhet has found 57 people infected.

Among them, four are from Dullu of Dailekh, 10 from Surkhet, four from Bheri and Barekot of Jajarkot and 38 from Salyan’s Bangad Kupinde.

In the test held in Rupandehi, 17 people have been confirmed infected. Among them, one is from Arghakhanchi, 11 from Kapilvastu, two from Susta of Nawalparasi and three from Rupandehi.

Tests at the National Public Health Laboratory in Teku have confirmed coronavirus in 120 people.

Among them, one is from Kamal Binayak of Bhaktapur, eight from Deupura of Dhanusha, 39 from Kapilvastu’s Maharajgunj, four from Kathmandu, 35 from Mahottari, six from Ishnath of Rautahat and 27 from Ishwarpur and Ramnagar of Sarlahi.

Nepal has reported 13 COVID-19 death so far, he said.

So far, the number of recovery from COVID-19 in Nepal has reached 365 — 299 males and 66 females — according to Spokesperson Dr. Devkota.

He added that 32 more patients were discharged in the last 24 hours. Among them are 27 males and five females.

A total of 15 people were discharged from Janakpur, four from Banke, six from Seti Hospital and seven from Surkhet hospital.

According to the Ministry of Health, 92,477 tests have been carried out using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method so far. Out of this, 4,111 samples were tested through the PCR method in the last 24 hours.

A total of 168,031 people have been quarantined across the country currently.

He said that 170 people are in isolation in Province 1,943 in Province 2, 55 in Bagmati Province, 70 in Gandaki Province, 961 in Province 5, 567 in Karnali Province and 91 in Province Sudurpaschim Province.

Out of the total cases, 249 are in Province 1, 1,077 in Province 2, 90 in Bagmati Province, 73 in Gandaki Province, 1,061 in Province 5, 579 in Karnali Province and 106 in Sudurpaschim Province.
