As the cases of coronavirus has been surged worldwide, it has forced everyone to stay at home. The pandemic has had wide-reaching consequences on human life affecting different modes so far. For the last more than three months, we have been working from home or wherever possible practicing social and physical distancing.
With social distancing restrictions now starting to ease the lockdown, people are slowly getting back to normal life again. However, still the imposed lockdown has not been completely restored wreaking havoc in our life. With the soaring of Covid-19 cases in Nepal, the government has called to strongly follow precautionary measures to be follwed. Although the restrictions are now starting to ease, the impact of COVID-19 is far from over and it will continue to have an impact in future.
It has become crucial for us to stay home during this tough time in order to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. So far, social distancing is a must. However, just because you are sitting at home, it does not mean that one cannot get to any work or learn anything new. Let’s turn this into an opportunity utilizing the time. Here are 10 ways one can follow to make their lockdown period productive and fruitful.
1. Let’s do yoga and meditation
Exercising improves strength, flexibility, agility, and mobility and most importantly it can help build your immunity during this Coronavirus pandemic. With this, healthy diet plan including all the veggies and fruits and salads should be followed.
2. Grow plants at home
This Covid-19 lockdown time can be utilized in growing plants in your garden and some may apply even roof gardening. If you have enough garden space, you can even try planting different plants. As the world is deprived of clean air, they will work wonders when they grow into trees in a few decades even if you may not be there to see them.
3. Spend time with your family
The best time spent is the time spent with our loved ones. Since we cannot go out during the Coronavirus lockdown, let’s make this an opportunity to spend time with the ones who are always there for us.
4. Watch the top movies and educational TV series
There is a long list of TV series that will educate you on various topics. The National Geographic documentaries are a way fun way to learn. Pick the genre of your choice and go watch them online. If you have access to a Netflix connection or Amazon Prime, there are a vast number of documentaries and docu-series you can watch on a variety of genres.
5. Start a Blog
Blogging is the new way of expressing your art on the internet. You can start a blog about anything that you are passionate about. People are looking for ideas frantically at this time and your blog might just give them what they need!
6. Exercise with Digital Apps
Your health should have always been your number one priority and if it hasn’t, then now is the time. Gyms may be closed but there are so many videos on Youtube and health-related apps that could help you work on yourself now. No more excuses for being tired and forgetful. Get fit this lockdown and build immunity that is especially required to fight the virus!
7. Socialize on the phone
Once you get busy with work, it can be difficult to stay connected with your family and friends. Social media apps will let you reconnect with everyone and be around the people who matter to rebuild that bond. Participate in group conversations to make your presence felt and indulge in any online games or activities. This will help you feel connected to the outside world and give you the emotional support you need.
8. Online course
Online learning is a reality that was supposed to take the world by storm by 2030 but the virus has made it popular in 2020 itself! Acquaint yourself withe-learning platforms and learn new skills during the lockdown so you have something to look forward to. By adding more to yourself, you will be using your time in the best way.
9. Learn a language
Learning a language is a fun experience but it does need dedication. A language learned will give you an edge over others. It will add to your CV and will help you in your career as well if you do it right. That will open new avenues of education and jobs in the future. Check out the various online courses and mobile apps available to easily learn new languages. Ask your parents to help you apply or do it yourself. Attend the online classes and appear for the test to get an online certificate for your new language skill!
10. Read about future goals
Read books, magazines, online websites on career planning and life goals and plan your targets in life. List down what you want to be 10 years from now and start working on your goals during the Covid-19 lockdown. Study journals and books that will take you closer to your dreams and start working on them. This practice can become the most fruitful practice during the Coronavirus lockdown period.
