Nepal records 1,478 new COVID 19 cases, 1,630 recoveries, 6 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 877,437 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The ministry said 1,478 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 11,067 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 1,251 returned positive. Likewise, 2,863 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 227 tested positive.

Of total tests, 11.30 per cent of the PCR and 7.92per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 10.61 per cent.

As of today, there are 19,805 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,334 are hospitalised, 334 in intensive care units and 119 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 1,630 people have achieved recovery whereas six deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 755,630 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,059 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 95.91 per cent and the death rate is 1.40 per cent.

Meanwhile, 156,018 people were vaccinated today.
