33 kg gold case: Chudamani alias “Gore” sentenced to life imprisonment

Chudamani Upreti “Gore” has been sentenced to life imprisonment by Morang District Court in a case about smuggling 33 kg of gold and murder of Sanam Shakya, a resident of Morang.

A bench of Justice Bharat Lamsal sentenced Gore to life imprisonment on Tuesday.

It should be recalled that Shakya was tortured and murdered on March 12, 2018, in Urlabari of Morang district after 33 kilograms of gold was “lost”.

A case was then filed and debated at the Morang District Court about the involvement of a criminal group deal with the illegal trade of gold smuggling, abduction and hostage-taking.

Shakya’s brother Sanjiv Shakya had filed a complaint at the court.

As many as 63 people including Benu Shrestha, Rewant Kumar Acharya alias Rewat, 2 people including Sambir Pretolong and Prabhat Agrawal alias Sanjay Khaitan were made the opposition.
