Nepal records 596 new COVID-19 cases, 871 recoveries, 10 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 895,192 as of Sunday afternoon.

The ministry said 596 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 9,237 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 565 returned positive. Likewise, 3,167 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 31 tested positive.

Of total tests, 6.11 per cent of the PCR and 0.97 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 4.8 per cent.

As of today, there are 15,340 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,165 are hospitalised, 322 in intensive care units and 113 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 871 people have achieved recovery whereas 10 deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 775,943 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,231 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 96.7 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 78,927 people were vaccinated today.
