Nepal records 296 new COVID-19 cases, 369 recoveries, 5 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 913,853 as of Friday afternoon.

The ministry said 296 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 7,777 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 271 returned positive. Likewise, 1,195 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 25 tested positive.

Of total tests, 3.48 per cent of the PCR and 2.09 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 3.29 per cent.

As of today, there are 7,539 active cases across the country. Of them, 479 are hospitalised, 231 in intensive care units and 56 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 369 people have achieved recovery whereas five deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 799,545 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,494 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.7 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 173,498 people were vaccinated today.
