NA personnel Shrestha wins medal of Lumbini Peace Marathon



Lumbini, March 2

Nepal Army’s Homlal Shrestha has won the title of the Fourth Lumbini Peace Marathon, 2018.

Shrestha completed the 42-kilometer-long distance in 2 hours 54 minutes 53 seconds. The marathon starting from Kudan of Kapilbastu district ended after reaching the premises of Mayadevi Temple.

NA’s Hari Prasad Rimal and Khagendra Bhatta emerged second and third respectively in the tournament jointly organized by Lumbini Peace Marathon and Adventure Sports Nepal.

Rimal completed the distance in 2 hours 57 minutes and 24 seconds while Bhatta in 3 hours 3 minutes and 40 seconds.

The winner of the marathon received the Lumbini Ashoka Peace Prize of Rs 100,000 in cash while first runner up was prized with Kapilbastu Huyensan Peace Prize of Rs 75,000. Likewise, the second runner up got a purse of Rs 50,000.

A total of 94 athletes from Nepal, India, China, New Zealand, USA, Germany, South Korea, Sweden and others nations took part in the event.

Meanwhile, Tirtha Pun of Indian Army got the title of Lumbini Peace Half Marathon, 2018.

Likewise, NA’s Ramji Basnet and Tikaraj Katawal stood second and third, respectively in the competition.

The first, second and third of the half marathon received Rs 50,000, Rs 35,000 and Rs 25,000 in cash.
