Madhya Marsyangdi resumes power generation

Kathmandu, March  2, 2018

The Lamjung-based Madhya Marsyangdi Hydropower Project has resumed power generation on Thursday following the repair of the powerhouse and a structure on the left portion of the reservoir.

The structure was constructed to prevent landslide towards the left of the reservoir but was damaged during the monsoon due to water cutting. It has been repaired to prevent further cutting by the water and a retaining wall has been constructed.

Project chief Pashupati Raj Gautam said the project began generating the power from this evening. The repair works had begun 10 days ago.

Gautam added that the repairing task was carried out to prevent the possible damage as the dam was partly damaged by the landslide in the rainy season last year.

According to Gautam, 28 megawatts power has been generated today though the project has the capacity of generating 70 megawatts.
