Kanchanpur, March 7
A team of experts from the Language Commission has started study and research works on the Rana Tharu language in Kanchanpur district.
The team has started research at 24 schools in Laljhadi area of the district to find out whether it is suitable to use textbooks on the Rana Tharu language.
Under-secretary of the Language Commission, Ganesh Prasad Bhattarai said the team would be looking into the kinds of teaching-learning materials being used in school, whether the students have understood what has been taught and the students’ learning aptitude.
The Language Commission has selected 10 rural municipalities throughout the country for teaching the mother language at school level.
Ninety-nine per cent of the population of Laljhadi rural municipality is of Rana Tharu community.
