Kathmandu, May 18
Speaking in a special hour of the National Assembly today, lawmakers drew the attention towards ensuring quality and effectiveness of development works. They demanded the guarantee of an effective monitoring mechanism to complete development projects on time.
Lawmaker Ramnarayan Bidari voiced for action against those contractors making delay in construction works. Dil Kumari Rawal stressed that upcoming budget should guarantee the completion of development programmes on time.
Radheshyam Adhikari congratulated the newly formed party Communist Party of Nepal by merging two communist parties. He took the time to draw the government’s attention towards inconveniences facing the people due to the ongoing road widening works in the Kathmandu Valley and other roads linking it to outer districts.
Bimala Rai demanded the formulation of new laws demanded by the constitution as soon as possible. She expressed her concern over outsourcing security forces during a high-level visit in the country, insisting on the need of providing special training for domestic security forces to make them competent to handle the special situation.
Komal Oli said the culture of spending development budget at the eleventh hour had failed to yield expected results, urging the government to ensure quality in development works.
Kabita Bogati said banking services in most of the districts in the Karnali province are limited only to the district headquarters, urging the government to also ensure rural people’s access to such facilities. Ramprit Paswan sought an immediate solution to Nepal-India border problems as the border people had been directly hit by the border encroachment.
Balaram Baskota advised the government to make works of upgrading of Tribhuvan International Airport effective and make aviation services systematic and safer.
Surendra Raj Pandey expressed his concern over Indian lawmaker’s remark regarding the Janakpur issue. He said it was a matter of sadness that the government did not give its official view over the issues.
Brishesh Chandra Lal highlighted the need of works operation through an e-system at all three-levels to control corruption.
Shivaram Bishwakarma and Ramchandra Rai underlined the need of making development projects effective.
The upper house of Federal Parliament shall meet again on coming May 21.
