Kathmandu, May 21
President Bidya Devi Bhandari is presenting the government policies and programmes for the upcoming fiscal year (2018/19) in a joint sitting of the Federal Parliament (House of Representatives and National Assembly) at 16:00 pm today.
The Cabinet meeting on Sunday night endorsed the proposal to this regard.
As per the constitution, the President may address either a meeting of any House or a joint sitting of both Houses of the Federal Parliament and summon the members for that purpose.
According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat’s Assistant Spokesperson Keshab Aryal, all preparations for the programme have been completed.
Development and prosperity forwarded by the government led by the Communist Party of Nepal, formed following the unification between the then CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Centre) has been prioritized in the policies and programmes.
Employees have been deployed to welcome and manage individuals attending the programme. Invited for the programme are also Vice President, top leaders of various political parties, high government officials, and chiefs of constitutional commissions, security agencies and Nepal-based diplomatic missions.
Right following the joint meeting, separate meetings of the NA and HoR are scheduled to thank the President.
