Creativity is more than just a word to the current generation. The world is obsessing over it. Parents want their kids to be creative. The young are obsessed with finding creative ideas and following and appreciating creativity.
In the business sector, everyday there is uncountable number of startups being registered and planned across the world based on “creative ideas”. In the world one might say that creativity is the key. Research suggests that only 25% people think or believe themselves to be living up to their creative potential.
Obsession over creativity is the most common trend in the current world. Yet we might find people swearing by the fact that it doesn’t come easy.
Find Out Creativity
What is it that makes us “creative”? Is it our hidden wish or the will? Does the yearning for anything play a part in finding creativity or does it just leave you desperate and at times even depressed when you fail to “tap” your “creativity”? Is it the motivation that does the trick? Does everyone find the right motivation to find out their own creative best?
The most common notion is that creativity is not a gift everyone is blessed with. Really? Are we all the same then? Are all our thought processes the same? Ponder a little upon these little facts and you will find yourself agreeing to the fact that indeed we are all blessed with creativity and the difference only lies in the application of our creativity.
Some tend to live their life in a creative manner. Some find out creativity in their hobbies. There are some who turn this creative hobby into their profession. The harsh truth also lies in the fact that sometimes creativity goes unnoticed not only by the crowd but also by the possessor of the gift. Are we after all so good at noticing creativity? That might just be another question to ponder upon. While that is a notion to ponder upon, let’s look at the matter at hand.
Work Towards Creativity
First and foremost are the will and the motivation to achieve a goal are the keys. Like countless gurus have stated, desire is the key to action and keeping yourself inspired. This is the key when working towards self-development. Finding out one’s creativity is one huge step in this direction.
Unless you stumble upon what you are looking for with just your instincts, the right planning and keeping yourself motivated is going to be important. It is very similar to any other endeavor you struggle at.
Set your goals and know what your priorities are. While this does not mean you ignore or disregard your instincts, your instincts can be an addition to your plan. Carry out your planning. Work on the plan daily or however often you wish to or can afford to. Sweat upon your plan regularly. Appreciate every small step that you think is taking you closer to your objective.
Appreciation and gratitude are sometimes under-rated. Be proud of what you accomplish and appreciate your own efforts and achievements. All the time, keep track of what went well and of what did not. Also keep a track of what takes you at least an inch closer to your objective and what hinders your progress. Obviously, while you would like to keep the good ones, you also want to avoid what doesn’t.
Change things up a little, even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone. Comfort zone is an illusion created by habits and a constant life style. This at times could be done to you over years of living life and following stereo-types. While your comfort zone does make you feel cozy, it isn’t necessarily the right path to your objective.
For example, your bed and blanket in the winter mornings are your comfort. But then again winters are considered the best time of the year for a rigorous workout routine. Imagine what will happen if the people who sweat it out hard in the gym were to keep to their comfort in the blanket instead!
You don’t have to force yourself out of your comfort zone. After all, freedom is the fuel to creativity. You just need to realize that your comfort zone is not as limited as your brain interprets it to be. Free yourself from your limitations that were only formed by the lifestyle so far and that thought process which makes you think of some imaginary limits that you think you should abide by. Freedom is the key to creativity. Think with freedom and act with some freedom. Chase after your imagination.
Day dreaming is bad. Or so they say – yes, it might be right not to spend all your time dreaming but did we forget that the dreamers are the achievers. The difference, the achievers find the balance of dreaming and acting on it.
The achievers would not be achievers if they didn’t have dreams to drive their actions. It’s strange. I mean isn’t it a strange fact that people tell you that the achievers don’t dream. Does anyone stop to ponder upon the fact that what we have achieved up to now could not have been possible if we did not work towards some type of “dream”?
Indeed, it does start with dreaming. So, feel free to dream but ensure that you don’t just stop at dreaming. Your dreams will show you the way. They will show you the light you are to chase. However, it’s your actions that are going to help you reach the destination.
Find the Balance
Not just creativity, but with anything the balance is important. Like in Buddhist teachings, the appropriate amount of anything matters.
Too much of dreaming will leave you a dreamer and not an achiever.Too much of action will leave you a workhorse.
Inspiration is needed. Dreaming is required. Action is imperative. But the most necessary or vital is the balance you can find in between these three. Dreaming will give you a vision of what you want to achieve. Inspiration will keep the hope alive. It will keep you constantly motivated towards the actions that will help you achieve what you wish to.
Do not forget to appreciate your efforts and achievements. Prioritize what are important. Your instincts will eventually kick in to give you that extra guidance on what you can achieve and how you will want to move in that direction.
