The central working committee (CWC) meeting of the ruling Nepali Congress
(NC) started Thursday has discussed the party’s preparations for the election to the National Assembly, alliance with other political parties and the contemporary political developments.
The meeting is likely to take a decision on forging election alliance with Rastriya Janata Party (RJP) and other fringe political parties for the election to the National Assembly. The date of the election to the National Assembly is scheduled to be conducted on February 7.
This is the first CWC meeting of the NC after the elections to the House of Representatives and Province Assemblies.
NC President and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel, general secretary Dr. Shashanka Koirala, party leader and Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachhadar and other CWC members were present in the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.
On Thursday, around 35 leaders have put forth their opinions. Most of the leaders expressing their opinions have criticized the party leadership for a poor result in the recently held elections.
Central committee member Gururaj Ghimire said that most of the leaders criticized the leadership during their expressions.
The next meeting of the NC CWC is schooled to be held at 11:00 am on Friday.
