Call to develop Nardevi Campus as the central institute of Ayurveda

2 Nov 2018, Kathmandu

The Ayurveda Doctor’s Association of Nepal has asked the government to develop country’s grand old Ayurveda Campus, Nardevi as the Central Specialist Campus of Ayurveda. The Nardevi-based Ayurveda institute established in 1917 AD with four beds has now 118 beds with multiple services in the field of Ayurveda treatment.

Issuing a press note on Thursday, Association’s President Dr Prakash Gyawali also said that Ayurveda medicine should be expanded to all local levels across the country along with the specialist services. However, the flow of patients in the Nardevi Hospital is still not encouraging for lack of public awareness about Ayurveda treatment, the experts claim.

Meanwhile, the Ayurveda Hospital, Nardevi is marking its centenary celebrations by organizing different prorammes for a week. Chief of the Hospital, Dr Baikunthanarayan Subedi, said that priority has been given for developing the hospital as the centre for excellence adding that the Ministry of Health is supposed to allocate sufficient budget for this to materialize.
