The Electronic Cargo Tracking System (ECTS) for goods being supplied from sea port in Kolkata to Nepal by rail was brought into force from today, the officials said.
Deputy Chairman of Kolkata Port Trust Balji Arun Kumar said that the electronic cargo tracking for Nepal bound containers has started.
According to Kumar, both the time and money of the suppliers would be saved with the inception of ECTS adding that it would reduce the procedural hassles and end the agents’ cost to be incurred in the port. With the ECTS in place, the importers would be relieved of the demurrage charges that they had paid due to multiple hassles in the port, it is claimed.
