The Lalitpur Metropolis has begun preparation for installation of ‘smart’ lights in the major streets of the metropolis. The installation is being carried out under joint collaboration between the metropolis and the Nepal Electricity Authority.
Smart lights will be installed in five major roads of the metropolis within the current fiscal year, according to metropolis spokesperson Raju Maharjan. The lights will be installed from Pulchowk to Lagankhel, from Pulchowk to Mangalbazar-Gwarkho, from Kupandol to Patandhoka-Mangalbazar, from Ekantakuna to Bungmati and from Satdobato to Dhapakhel.
Smart lights have automatic switch off and on facility, with the lights getting automatically on when pedestrians and vehicles pass by and off when passengers and vehicles are not there.
