Aaha gold cup kicks off

Armed Police Force (APF) club defeated host Sahara Club by 5-4 in a tie-breaker in the inaugural match of the Aaha Rara Gold cup football tournament that began here today.

The match held at local Pokhara stadium went to penalty shootout after it ended in a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes of regulation time and 30 added minutes.

APF goalkeeper Roman Rasaili turned out to be the hero in the shootout, winning the game for his team.

A total of 10 teams are taking part in the 17th edition of the tournament that was inaugurated by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari. The tournament is organized by Sahara Club Pokhara.

The participating teams include three departmental teams of Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and Nepal Army Club, and Manang Marsyangdi Club, Dharan football club, Three Star Club, Defines Family Club, Cameroon, Himalayan Sherpa Club and United Sikkim Football club from India, and the host Sahara Club.
