All vehicles plying valley roads from today as odd-even rule scrapped

6 July 2021, Kathmandu

The odd-even rule applicable to private and public vehicles in the Kathmandu Valley has been removed paving the way for both private and public vehicles to ply the roads in the Kathmandu Valley.

A meeting of Chief District Officers (CDOs) of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur Sunday did away with the odd-even rule in the prohibitory order effective from Tuesday. The prohibitory order has been extended until July 15.

Assistant Chief District Officer Umakanta Adhikari on Sunday said now all vehicles can ply the roads by following health safety standards.

Likewise, public vehicles such as three-wheeler rickshaws, and vehicles with less than 25 seats can also operate. However, microbuses are not allowed to carry more than nine passengers.

Moreover, the CDOs have allowed to conduct examinations that were previously scheduled in an examination hall without exceeding 25 exam-appearing students.

Likewise, transportation of construction material can be done from 10 pm to 5 am.
