KATHMANDU, Feb 4
The departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) has lifted the 13th Red Bull Dhorpatan UM Women’s Double League Volleyball Tournament defeating Shivam New Diamond Academy (NDA) in the last match of the league stage on Saturday.
At the Dhorpatan Club’s Sports Ground in New Bus Park, APF beat NDA on straight sets of 3-0.
APF, who ended the tournament unbeaten, finished in the first place with 50 points from 17 matches. NDA grabbed second place with 46 points from as many matches.
NDA was very poor in the match and lost the first set 25-16. They were crushed 25-17 in the second set and 25-12 in the third.
In another match, TOPS Higher Secondary School saw off the other departmental team Nepal Police Club (NPC) 3-2 on the same day. TOPS, who secured the first set 25-21, lost the second 25-27. TOPS made the score 2-1 with a 25-19 third set win, while NPC made it 2-2 with a 10-25 fourth set win. Tops, who was 8-2 at one stage of the last set, overcame NPC to win the set 17-15.
TOPS secured the third place with 35 points from 17 matches, while NPC has 33 points with one game still to play.
APF took home a purse of Rs 325,000 after the title win, while NDA was rewarded with Rs 170,000 for the second place.
NDA’s Salina Shrestha Libru and Kripa Adhikari were declared the best lifters. Likewise, APF’s Reshma Bhandari got the best blocker award and Gyanendra Bista was named the best coach of the tournament.
Whereas, NPC’s Kopila Rana and TOPS’ Aruna Shahi became the best kicker and the best server. All the best performers got Rs 5,000 each.
