Be aware! You may be fined if you are below 16, and caught using a mobile phone or riding a motorcycle.
The Kalyanpur Municipality has decided to ban children below 16 using a mobile phone and riding a motorcycle, effectively from February 13. In case of a violation of the order, a person will be fined Rs 500 each.
An all-party meeting held on Thursday under the chairmanship of chairman of the ward 5 Dipendra Yadav took a decision to this effect, and the ban will be applied to the wards 4, 5 and 6 of the municipality.
The meeting also decided to ban the sale and consumption of alcohol and the playing of provocative songs at restaurants. Those found selling and consuming alcohol will be slammed a fine of Rs 5,000 each liquor shop, and Rs 2,000 each person respectively.
The move aims to reduce alcohol-related social disorder and chaos, and maintain peace and harmony, said the chairman of ward 6 Motibul Rain.
Likewise, a restaurant found playing provocative songs will be fined Rs 5,000.
The meeting was attended by people’s representatives, office bearers of local trader association, chiefs of local security agencies and social workers.
