Khotang’s Bhim Rai has been elected to head the Kirat Rai Journalists’ Association.
Bhim Rai was elected after defeating his contender Prakash Rai with the heavy margin. Repeated parleys for consensus for a common candidate had ended inconclusively earlier following which the election took place.
Bhim garnered 54 votes while his closest contender Prakash managed only five votes, according to the election panel. As per the statute, the Association’s first meeting after the election must nominate two more members to form a 23 – member committee.
