Biratnagar metropolis announces ‘lockdown’ from Tuesday

The Biratnagar Metropolis has announced an indefinite ‘lockdown’ in Biratnagar. The decision was taken to come into effect beginning Tuesday morning to prevent and tackle the novel coronavirus spread.

As shared by the Mayor Bhim Parajul, a meeting held with the concerned stakeholders on Monday decided to go for a ‘lockdown’ until further notice.

Parajuli said barring essentials such as milk, pharmaceuticals, drinking water, daily commodities  all industries, factories, and market places will remain closed from tomorrow, adding, “The decision has been made to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”

During the lockdown period, the metropolis will mobilize teams to minutely monitor the activities in Biratnagar.

He has also appealed to the people of Biratnagar to stay indoors during the lockdown.
