Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, has urged the National Planning Commission to play an effective role.
“NPC has so far become a place to employee and manage some selected people,” he said, demanding its cooperative role to all three levels of governments by expanding its federal structure.”
During a province level programme the NPC organized at Birendranagar on SDG friendly planning, monitoring and evaluation, Chief Minister Shahi suggested the NPC that it focused the development of Karnali region.
According him, the NPC must have clear draft of development and statistics so that the plans for the upliftment of scattered settlements in the geographically remote area.
He further informed that the provincial government was studying the status of the region along with the implementation of the budget. If we face budget crunch, we call the foreign investors for the Karnali province’s development, the Chief Minister added.
Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning in the province, Prakash Jwala, also pointed out the coordination and cooperation rather than conflict among all three layers of government for the success of federalism.
NPC Chairman Dr Pushpa Kandel and members expressed views on Karnali’s development and NPC’s role.
