Chief Minister vows to rid Province-7 of human trafficking

A Mahakali to Mechi campaign has been started from here

on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Maiti Nepal to spread awareness across the country against human trafficking.

Chief Minister of Province-7, Trilochan Bhatta, inaugurated the campaign in Mahendranagar on Saturday. On the occasion, Bhatta committed to ridding the Province-7 of the problem of human trafficking.

He said the provincial government would enact harsh laws to deal with the problem of human trafficking. “Only making stringent laws would not solve these kinds of crimes. We will also instruct the civil administration to curb this crime,” he said.

Chief Minister Bhatta also said that a ‘help desk’ would also be set up approaching the federal government to minimise the incidents of human trafficking which are on the rise due to the open border with India.

Public awareness programmes would be organised at seven places across the country in course of the Mahakali to Mechi Campaign Against Human Trafficking.
