The Grant Assistance of Anti-COVID-19 Pandemic Supplies by China has arrived to Nepal. Nepal recently has seen worsening COVID-19 situation and has faced a shortage of anti-epidemic medical supplies.
The Spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy has shared that the Chinese Embassy in Nepal attaches great attention and conveys its sincere solicitude to the bereaved families and the infected. In order to support Nepali people’s fight against the pandemic, and at the request of Nepali government, the Chinese government has decided to provide emergency assistance of medical supplies to Nepal.
With the joint efforts of both sides, the first batch of assistance including 400 oxygen cylinders and 10 ventilators has arrived in Kathmandu in the afternoon of 11 May, along with more than 170 oxygen concentrators donated by Chinese company Hongshi Shivam Cement.
Since the onset of COVID-19 pandemic, China and Nepal have been supporting and helping each other through thick and thin and stood together with mutual assistance. On the video conference concluded on 27 April where foreign ministers of China, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh discussed cooperation on fighting COVID-19, all parties consolidated important consensus on cooperation against the pandemic.
State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced that China would provide a new batch of anti-epidemic supplies to Nepal. The relevant authorities of the two sides immediately started cooperating to accelerate its implementation and completed the production, handover and transportation of the first batch of the supplies in the shortest possible time. In addition, governments of different levels and various sectors of society in China are also very concerned about the pandemic situation in Nepal.
They are ready to provide support within their capacity and have been actively mobilizing much-needed medical supplies for Nepal. This is not only a reflection of the profound friendship of the Chinese people towards the Nepali people, but also works as an active practice in building a community of health for China and Nepal.
China will uphold the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind, stand firmly with the Nepali people, and join hands and unite as one to fight the pandemic. The Chinese Embassy in Nepal will continue to coordinate so as to deliver more China-aid supplies to Nepal through various channels as soon as possible. We wish the Nepali people an early victory over the pandemic.
