Chinese Moon Festival Celebrated In Kathmandu

The Chinese Moon Festival, organized by China Cultural Center, was celebrated in Kathmandu on 24th August, 2018. Several Chinese artistes put up varied performances on the occasion.

Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Chinese ambassador to Nepal, Yu Hong, and Yin Kunsong, director of China Cultural Center in Kathmandu also attended the program held at Hotel Yak & Yeti.

Two days later on 26th August, 2018, the Chinese business community living in Nepal also celebrated the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, in Kathmandu.

According to a Xinhua news agency report the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Matrika Prasad Yadav and a group of people representing Nepalese business community were also present on the occasion.

In China, the Mid-Autumn Festival is considered to be the second largest festival after the Chinese New Year. In recent years,   arrival of the Chinese nationals in Nepal as tourists or entrepreneurs has grown significantly. As a result, nowadays Chinese festivals are being celebrated more visibly in Nepal than during the earlier times.
