Coronavirus death toll crosses 248,000 globally with over 3.5 mln infected

With Coronavirus wreaking havoc across the world, the death toll from the novel virus has climbed to 248, 094 after 3,431 died in the last 24 hours as of Monday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 80, 897 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 3,562,268 as of Monday morning.

Currently, 2,161, 103 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the world, of which 50, 043 are critical.

Meanwhile, 1,153,071 have recovered after treatment.

America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 1,122 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 68, 566 as of Monday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 26,459 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,187,233.

Currently, 940, 404 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 16,139 are critical.  Meanwhile, 178, 263 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 24, 648 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 7,886 and 4, 049 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Italy, the second worst-hit country in terms of deaths, has 174 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 28, 884 as of Monday morning.

The number of infection cases in the country has reached 210, 717 after 1,389 new cases were reported, the third highest in terms of infection cases, after Spain and America, according to Worldometer.

Currently, 100,179 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 1,501 are critical. Meanwhile, 81,654 have recovered after treatment.

Spain has the second highest number of infection cases with 247,122 after the United States of America (USA).

The country reported 1,533 infection cases, 164 deaths in the last 24 hours. A total of 25, 264 have died due to the novel virus as of Monday morning.

Currently, 73, 300 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 2,386 are critical.

Meanwhile, 148, 558 have recovered after treatment.

The death toll in the United Kingdom (UK) has reached 28, 446 after 315 died in the last 24 hours as of Monday morning.

According to Worldometer,  with 4, 339 new cases,  the number of infection cases has surged to 186, 599.

Currently, 157, 809 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 1, 559 are critical.   UK has performed tests on 1,206,405  people so far.

France has reported 135 deaths in the last 24 hours taking to death toll to 24, 895 deaths as of Monday morning.

According to reports, the number of infection cases has surged to 168, 693 after 297 new cases were reported.

Currently, 93, 014 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 3, 819 are critical. Meanwhile, 50, 784 have returned home after recovery.

India has reported 1, 391 deaths after 68 died in the last 24 hours as of Monday morning. With 2,806 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 42, 505.

Currently, 29, 339 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country while 11, 775 have returned home after recovery. The India government has performed tests on 1,046,450 people for Coronavirus so far.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 248,094 and infecting 3,562,268 people as of Monday morning.
