Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun on Sunday said the country has stepped in the path to prosperity and in this regard, corruption, the main enemy of development, should be wiped out. “We all should unite to root out corruption from the country,” he said addressing an inaugural programme of Jyotirlinga set up by Kedareshwor Om Dham in Basgadhi, Bardiya.
The country should pursue economic prosperity following political stability with the promulgation of the constitution, he said. “There is nothing that cannot be done. What is needed for this is strong determination. All available resources should be employed,” he said.
He pointed out agriculture and tourism as having an important role in creating job opportunities and eradicating poverty. He also pledged to play his role in collecting assistances for the development of Kedareshwor Dham, a religious tourism spot.
The Jyotirlinga is reported to be the biggest of its kind in the country measuring 108 feet in height. The premises of the Dham comprise 108 Gaumukhi mukti dharas (spouts), 108 Tulasi religious shrines and a temple of god Ganesha. The 108 feet Kailash path in the premises of the Dham has 348 steps.
Construction of the Dham started in 2069 BS and concluded this year. Lokananda Swami of Butwal envisaged the project. The project cost Rs 400 million, said Krishna Prasad Bastola of the Kedareshwor Om Trust.
