Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population on Wednesday said 586 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Nepal in the past 24 hours.
As many as 586 persons — 546 males and 40 females — were found with the virus infection in the last 24 hours, informed Dr Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.
With the addition of the case, the country’s tally has reached 7,177, Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr. Gautam said.
The new cases of virus infection were detected in Udayapur, Morang, Jhapa, Dhanusa, Mahottari, Bara, Rautahat, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Sarlahi, Pyuthan, Argakhanchi, Kailali, Parbat, Nawalparasi (East), Gulmi, Banke, Bardiya, Dang, Salyan, Surkhet, Dailekh, Kalikot and Kanchanpur,
Meanwhile, nine COVID-19 patients from Siraha, Rautahat and Parsa have been discharged from the hospital in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus.
In the last 24 hours, 6,037 samples have been tested through PCR, said Spokesperson Dr. Gautam.
According to him, 367,257 samples have been tested for coronavirus in Nepal so far. Of these, 143,738 samples were tested through the PCR and 233543 through the RDT.
Meanwhile, a total of 9 people (all males) were discharged after recovery in the last 24 hours, he said. With this 1,167 have been discharged across the country so far.
At present, 5,990 people are in isolation and 125,798 are in quarantines across the country.
Meanwhile, Dr Gautam also confirmed the death of a woman, 46, due to coronavirus. She died while undergoing treatment at the Nepalgunj Medical College in Kohalpur, Banke.
Her report came out positive on Tuesday evening. She was also suffering from pneumonia, and was admitted to the hospital after her health condition deteriorated.
With this, Nepal’s death tally stands at 20.
