United Nations Secretary General António Guterres has said the COVID-19 outbreak is the biggest challenge for the entire humanity since the Second World II.
Secretary General Guterres said so in a report on the possible impact of coronavirus on economic and social sectors globally.
He also said it could bring could an unprecedented recession. “The world would suffer from the recession that probably has no parallel in the recent past,” Guterres said in the report.
Relief package for low-and-middle-income countries
Secretary General Guterres has informed the UN is establishing COVID-19 relief fund targeting low and middle income countries.
“The COVID-19 could bring a recession that probably has no parallel in the recent past. It is greatest test since World War Two,” says UN chief.
Meanwhile, he has urged one and all to maintain high health alert to combat the coronavirus pandemic.
Broke out in Chinese Wuhan City last December, the deadly virus has already spread to over 202 countries, killing over 42,000 and infecting over 860,893 people globally.
