Coronavirus death toll in Italy has climbed to 3, 405, outnumbering that of China’s as 427 died in a single day.
The number of death toll has dropped drastically in China where the novel virus first broke out, with 3, 245 deaths.
A lockdown imposed on 12 March in Italy has been extended beyond the original 25 March end date.
The government has told nearly all Italians to self-quarantine.
Despite these measures, the number of new cases and deaths has continued to rise.
There have been 220,000 cases of the virus worldwide with more than 10,000 deaths.
