Coronavirus has killed 5,446 people in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) region as of Saturday morning.
According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, 3,726 died in India, 1,067 in Pakistan, 432 in Bangladesh, 205 in Afghanistan, nine in Sri Lanka and four in the Maldives and three in Nepal taking the tally to 5,446 in the SAARC member states. Meanwhile, 75, 016 people have recovered after treatment.
India, the worst-hit among SAARC member states, comes fourth in Asia with the highest number of deaths. Iran is the worst-hit with 7, 300 deaths in Asia followed by China with 4, 634. Similarly, 4,276 died in Turkey (3rd), and 3,726 in India (fourth).
India
The death toll in India from Coronavirus has reached 3,726 as of Saturday morning after 142 died in the last 24 hours.
With 6,568 new cases, the number of infection cases has climbed to 124,794. Currently, 69,244 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country while 51,824 have returned home after recovery.
Pakistan
Pakistan, the second worst-hit in the SAARC region, has recorded 1,067 deaths so far while 50, 694 have been infected. The number of deaths surged to 1,067 after 50 more died as of Saturday morning.
With 2,603 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 50, 694 in Pakistan. Currently, 34,426 are undergoing treatment, while 15,201 have recovered after treatment.
Bangladesh
The death toll from the Coronavirus in Bangladesh has climbed to 432 with 30,205 infected, so far. Currently, 23,583 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 6,190 have recovered.
Afghanistan
Afghanistan has reported 205 deaths and 9,216 people have been infected as of Saturday morning. Currently, 8,015 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals while 996 have recovered home after treatment.
Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka has reported nine deaths and 1,068 infection cases as of Saturday morning. Currently, 439 are undergoing treatment while 620 have returned home after recovery.
Nepal
Nepal has reported 548 infection cases after 32 new cases were reported. Currently, 478 are undergoing treatment while 70 have recovered after treatment.
Maldives
The death toll in the Maldives has reached four while 1,274 have been infected from the Coronavirus so far. Currently, 1,161 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 109 have recovered.
Bhutan
Bhutan has reported 21 infection cases. Six among those infected with the novel virus have recovered after treatment while 15 are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
