Kathmandu, May 28
An international conference on ‘Marxism and Socialism’ has been scheduled to be held here on coming May 30-31 on the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth anniversary of founder of modern Communism Karl Marx.
The Communist Party of Nepal and CPN (Masal) are organizing the two-day event which is defined as an opportunity of sending a positive message to the world in the aftermath of the formation of a largest communist party following the unification of the then CPN (UML) and the CPN ( Maoist Center).
Information about this was shared at a press meet organised by the conference organising committee here today. As stated by committee coordinator and CPN’s senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, a discussion session about challenges that communist parties faced in the past and future polices has been scheduled during the conference.
‘People’s liberation and social transformation’ is always in the center of communists,” he said, adding that the present focus of CPN was on how to achieve prosperity through the means of socialism and ensure just distribution of such gains.
Prime Minister and CPN Chair KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to inaugurate the event and present his paper on the topic of ‘Communist movement in Nepal and revolutionary process’ while another chair of the same party and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will present a working paper on ‘Today’s Marxism and Socialism’.
Fifteen communist parties from various 11 countries have already promised their participation in the event.
