Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwor Pokhrel has assured an increase of social security allowance to the senior citizens in the upcoming budget. During the inaugural ceremony of the fourth town assembly of Bedkot municipality in Kanchanpur today, the DPM announced that the senior citizens social security allowance would be increased to Rs 5,000 per month per person.
Under the social security scheme, senior citizens’ medical insurance up to Rs 100 thousand has been ensured. He rebuffed reports the government is gradually cutting off the social security allowance. Such views are falsely rumoured, DPM Pokhrel.
He took time to claim that the government was working to create an image of prosperity within the country fiscal year.
“In past, government changed, but now system has changed,” he said, describing development of agriculture, water resources, industry and tourism as the major base for prosperity. Advising people’s representatives to internalize people’s needs while performing their duties, he pledged to make initiations for the establishment of Daijee Chhela Industrial Zone and for the construction of Daijee –Jogbudha road.
Underlining the need of change in the land use policy, he urged local bodies to exercise given rights without being dependent on the centre for every matter. On the occasion, he inaugurated a newly constructed building of the municipality.
