Education Minister bats for book policy



Kathmandu, April 23

Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel has opined for issuing a national book policy soon.

At a programme organized by National Books and Stationery Federation on the occasion of ‘world book day’ today, Minister Pokharel said that the policy will be promulgated soon as a report in relation to the policy was already prepared in 2069 BS.

Similarly, CPN (UML) politburo member Dr. Bijay Poudel said the papers imported for book print was costlier than importing books printed in India which he said was a result of policy gap.

Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak said that his party was ready to support the issue of introducing book policy.

CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Lekhnath Neupane argued that the book policy was the need of the hour.

Federation’s general secretary Navanidhi Panta expressed concern that the past governments did not pay attention to adapt book policy despite frequent requests.
