A youth network of the Social Organizations affiliated to National Youth Council (NYC) has been successfully formed on 28 December, 2019. A group of youths active in various fields and representing all the seven provinces has been united for the formation of the network.
There is a provision for the Social Organizations working in the sector of Youth Development to be affiliated to the National Youth Council. On the basis of this, nearly 500 CSOs are affiliated to the Council till the date.
The main objective of this network is to ensure effective youth mobilization on the Youth focused programs and other National Campaigns organized by National Youth Council (NYC),by also keeping Nepal Government’s declaration of fiscal year 2076-77 as the year of youth mobilization in limelight . It aims to ensure inclusive Youth mobilization in all the 11 thematic areas (under the declaration).
A committee of 15 members under the chairmanship of the president of Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal (JCYCN) and Coordinator of National Child Friendly Local Governance (NCFLG) Forum Mr. Tilottam Paudel was structured on the very day. Mr. Paudel is a youth activist and the founder of the first ever registered child club (Jagriti Child Club) of Nepal. He is a pioneer in the promotion of child rights in Nepal and has been playing pivotal role in the betterment of child friendly local governance, youth empowerment and girl’s rights for more than 2 decades now.
Mr. Narayan Giri secured the position of Vice president. Similarly, Dr. Chandan Thakur and Ms. Nirmala Gautam were elected as Secretary and Joint Secretary respectively. Ms. Nira Timsena became the treasurer of the Network. Finally, Ramsara Regmi, Pradip Chaulagain, Tapendra Rawal, Gautam Sharma, Sarada Lama, Bimala Maharjan, Bipin Kathayat, Anjana Shiwakoti, Mina Chandra Thakuri and Dhiraj Bhandari were elected as the members of the network. The representation of all the seven provinces has been ensured during the election of the members.
Speaking at the program, the executive Vice president of NYC, Mr. Madhav Dhungel emphasized for a joint effort of Ministry of Youth and Sports, National Youth Council, governmental stakeholders and civil society Organizations for the overall development of youths.
It can be hopped that the role of this network will be stronger in the Youth Focused programs and National Campaigns of National Youth Council. The proper and timely implementation of National Youth Council Act, 2072 and Youth Vision 2025 can also be expected from this team.
