Former MP’s Forum, Nepal has honoured its 35 members elected as representatives in the new parliament as well.
Forum Chair Omkar Prasad Shrestha honoured 35 members in the federal parliament including Minister for Population and Environment Lalbabu Pandit amidst a ceremony at its Singha Durbar-based office.
On the occasion, Minister Pandit pledged to make efforts to ensure health insurance facility for former members of parliament. He was of the view that the government should not pay them in cash for health insurance, but should make arrangements for their treatment in the government hospitals.
In some cases, the government’s decision to provide treatment expense to political leaders had turned unpopular. Political leaders should be discouraged for going abroad for medical treatment.
Revealing that that Kathmandu Valley’s dust was capable increasing cancer cases, he vowed to work in a planned way to make the city dust-free within a year. Forum Chair stressed that the government should not discriminate former MPs and its former office bearers in facility.
