Govt reduces fee for COVID-19 test to Rs 1,000

The government has reduced the fee for COVID-19 test.

The test fee has been reduced from Rs 2,000 to Rs 1,000, said Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population.

According to Spokesperson Gautam, the laboratory now only can charge maximum of Rs 1,000.

The government has reduced the fee for the coronavirus test for the fourth time. The test, which used to cost Rs 5,500, was reduced to Rs 4,400, then to Rs 2,000.

Similarly, Spokesperson Gautam said that only the laboratories allowed by the National Public Health Laboratory, Teku, can conduct tests.

Meanwhile, the government has said that the risk of the coronavirus is increasing and urged to comply with all public health standards.

According to the Ministry of Health, all the 753 municipalities across the country have been instructed to fully comply with the public health standards.
