Who will be the next Bond, James Bond?
With Daniel Craig’s run as 007 set to conclude following the next Bond film in 2019, speculation is starting to heat up over who his replacement might be.
One name that is getting some early buzz is Harry Styles, the former One Direction singer who made his acting debut in “Dunkirk” last year.
“Harry could do it. If they wanted a younger Bond then why not? He has got it,” Lee Smith, the editor on 2015’s “Spectre,” told The Daily Star.
That endorsement could turn out to be something more than just mere speculation since Smith is also a frequent collaborator of Christopher Nolan, yes, Styles’ director on “Dunkirk.” Nolan is rumored to be the director of the next Bond film.
Styles, incidentally, is 23 years old.
But this isn’t the only name being tossed around. Idris Elba (“The Dark Tower”) has been a fan-favorite to take over the role for so long, the idea seems to have jumped the shark. When recently asked about it at Sundance, the “Luther” actor suggested another direction.
“Are we interested in having a Bond character other than being a male?” Elba told Variety. “Could be a woman, could be a black woman, could be a white woman, but I think, that character, everybody would like to see it have — do something different with it, why not?”
The idea caught the attention of the “Today” show on Tuesday, as the hosts threw out possible names such as Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”) and Lupita Nyong’o (“12 Years A Slave”) to see if any would stick.
So, we want to know who you think should play James Bond. “The Sign of the Times” singer? A woman? Or maybe they can ask Sean Connery to come out of retirement. Vote in the poll and post in the comments.
