Minister for Health and Population Bhanubhakta Dhakal has stressed the need for responsive and resilient health systems as well as sustained level of in-country production of medical services and goods.

Attending in a virtual meeting of the 73rd World Health Assembly, Minister Dhakal said Nepal expects a high-level coordination and cooperation from concerned stakeholders to make the country’s efforts efficient and holistic.

Stating that health is a major foundation for development, he said that the coronavirus pandemic has further provided the need for increased investment in health.

He said that the whole world is passing through a challenging time with risks and uncertainties and the upcoming days.

Minister Dhakal stated that Nepal has been responding to the COVID-19 outbreak with high-level political commitment by mobilizing multi-sectoral mechanisms.

The ongoing efforts to respond this epidemic, he argued, from the three tiers of government have been instrumental in the country.
