High-level committee suggests two-week lockdown extension

The high-level coordination committee on the prevention and containment of COVID-19 has decided to extend the lockdown by 14 days.

A meeting lead by  Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Iswor Pokhrel held on Sunday made the decision to this effect in an effort to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus in the country.

The cabinet meeting to be held today will finalize the decision. Prior to this, Nepal Government has declared a weeklong lockdown coming into effect from March 24  to combat the global pandemic of corona virus.

The week long lockdown is going to be complete in March 31 on 6 am in the morning. However, due to the fear of infection of the virus, committee has suggested to extend the lockdown period.
