Home Minister calls for strengthening security

Chitwan, April 19

Minister for Home Affairs, Ram Bahadur Thapa, today issued instructions for tightening the security citing preparations being undertaken by domestic and external enemies to create instability in the country.

After an inspection tour of the District Police Office in Chitwan this morning, Minister Thapa claimed that some elements were trying to push the country back towards instability witnessed in the past years. “It is necessary to fend it off by strengthening the security,” he added.

The Minister noted the recently emerging activities of sending letters to the people’s representatives, extortion and bomb explosions at different places and called for immediately stopping it.

Stating that Chitwan was developing into criminals’ hideout, Minister Thapa argued, “The more development takes place, the more challenges and crime adds up, it is necessary to bring about a transformation in the security policy.”

He issued instructions to contain the widespread contraband smuggling, transaction and use. The minister commended the police institution for working with high morale to control crime despite the lack of physical infrastructure and high technologies.

Minister Thapa also took notice of the fact that lack of timely promotion has drained the morale out of the police officers and assured of institutional change for the same.

On the occasion District Police Office, Chitwan’s Chief Superintendent of Police, Deepak Thapa, spoke of the difficulty in maintaining security due to lack of adequate human resources.
